About the role

At Alzheimer’s Society, we are passionately committed to creating a dementia movement that inspires people to take action and unite against the UK’s biggest killer.

Have you got what it takes to work with people living with dementia and their carers to create dementia friendly communities? Then we can promise you an exciting and busy role within our Essex and Hertfordshire community dementia support team.

Working within our Thurrock team, the Dementia Friendly Community Coordinator will promote a better understanding of dementia across communities in order to reduce stigma and discrimination and promote independence for people living with dementia.

This role will give you a chance to really make a difference to people with dementia who need our support.

About you

We are looking for a motivated and committed Dementia Friendly Community Coordinator who is able to build relationships within communities. To encourage communities and individual organisations to work towards becoming dementia friendly and sign up to our recognition process.

To develop relationships with people living in the community with dementia, and to ensure they are fully able to participate in the development of dementia friendly communities.

You will be confident and self-assured and be able to influence change.

You will be playing a key role in working with health care professionals, GP practices teams, communities, businesses, the statutory sector and many other organisations to increase dementia awareness.  You will deliver dementia friends sessions and work as part of the county-wide Dementia Action Alliances movement to achieve a dementia friendly Essex & Hertfordshire.

You will have experience of coordinating and facilitating meetings, public speaking and presentations. You must also have the ability to manage several tasks at once.

Our employees work hard every day to make a true difference in people's lives. We are proud to support them with a range of benefits, recognition and many options for working agilely, all contributing to a strong work life balance.
