Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. We provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia. There will be 850,000 people with dementia in the UK by 2015 with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025.
About the role
Our five year strategy sets out ambitious aims, built around three core pillars, to change the landscape of dementia forever. With dementia firmly on the public policy agenda we have an ambitious programme of work, including making society more inclusive of people with dementia and influencing the government and NHS structures. We are looking to recruit a skilled Policy Manager to lead this work.
In addition to hugely raising the profile of dementia and social care reform in recent months, our current high profile activity in prioritising the key issues and calling for high level reform is dependent on the development and use of high quality, meaningful policy evidence that sets out the issues with clarity and supports our campaigning and lobbying calls.
Reporting to the Head of Policy you will work independently and proactively, leading the policy team in identifying and developing key areas of policy work, building relationships with key policy influencers and briefing colleagues.
We are looking for someone with significant experience in developing and providing inspiring and successful evidence based policy activity. You will have experience of planning and delivering high profile policy activity and the ability to communicate with and influencing key stakeholders through dynamic leadership of a skilled policy team.
The Policy Manager will report to the Head of Policy and will be a member of the Policy, Campaigns and Partnerships directorate, liaising at all levels inside the organisation.
A natural leader, you will have responsibility for managing the Policy Team and a wide range of key work areas, with a dedicated and high performing team. You will be a dynamic, skilled policy expert, playing an integral role in shaping Alzheimer’s Society’s future strategy direction and wider focus to support the directorate in policy development, evidence gathering and influencing to effect lasting change for people affected by dementia.
