VAC2814 - Senior Special Events Manager

Please note the deadline for submitting applications for this vacancy is 8am on the closing date

Are you a creative and ambitious individual with experience in event and people management? Are you an excellent relationship manager who would thrive in an exciting and rewarding leadership role in a busy Special Events team?

About the role

We’re looking for someone outstanding to lead our special events team, delivering a busy portfolio of events that drive income and engagement with our most influential supporters.

In this role, you’ll work across our high-value and high-volume fundraising teams (Philanthropy, Corporate & Events) to develop and deliver a Special Events strategy that showcases the breadth of the Society’s work.  You’ll lead your team to put on exceptional events that inspire our guests to support Alzheimer’s Society, from our flagship Carol Services and Polo Days to a celebrity led Comedy Gig.

You’ll lead on the creation of a new special event committee, bringing together well connected and influential people to guide the special event calendar to success. And build trusted relationships with some of our most senior colleagues and volunteers and assess and develop potential new events that fill gaps in our portfolio.

About you

You’ll be an experienced events manager, confident in working with and responding to high-profile, influential audiences.  You can demonstrate how you’ve delivered results and built relationships with senior colleagues and influential supporters and be equally confident leading a meeting with a special event committee as you are pitching for new sponsorship opportunities. You’ll have designed creative event calendars and complex event budgets.  You’ll understand how to convey key Society messages through events, create exciting sponsorship packages, and maximise on-the-night fundraising opportunities.

Innovative and target-driven, you’ll be adept at juggling tasks and workflow to meet deadlines and thrive on finding creative solutions to challenges.  Your open, collaborative approach will enable you to build key relationships within your team and across the Society.  You’ll know how to evaluate an event’s success and use the insight to drive continuous improvement that means we can do even more for people affected by dementia.

This role is homebased but travel to meetings and to deliver our events will be required.

Our employees work hard to make a true difference in people's lives. We are proud to support them with a range of benefits, recognition, and options for agile working, all contributing to a strong work/life balance. We also have various learning programmes to support you in your development and help you grow to realise your potential and shape a career with Alzheimer's Society.
