About the role
As a New Forest Dementia Support Worker, you will have the rewarding opportunity to provide support and guidance to people with dementia and their carers; helping to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives. The service is unique to each service user as it is based upon their personal circumstances and support needs.
You will offer support and guidance to your clients in a variety of ways, whether in the client's own home, at other locations, face to face, by phone, letter or email. You will also assist service users to access other services, providing signposting and referrals. The role will also include supporting the running of our Singing for the Brain and activity groups, where you will lead a Team of dedicated volunteers and a Singing leader.
An understanding of dementia along with experience of supporting people is desirable - but not essential, as we are looking for a person who wants to be part of a fantastic team creating a supportive environment to help people affected by dementia.
You will possess an NVQ level 2 or equivalent as well as having good organisation and facilitation skills combined with excellent communication and listening skills.
