About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and highly professional individual who would like to be part of Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Support Service in North Somerset. This is a great opportunity to join our team as a Dementia Support Worker.
The service provides personalised support to people diagnosed with dementia and their carers, helping them to maintain their independence, access services, improve their sense of well-being, and have more control of their lives, by assisting with the identification of needs and providing information and access to relevant services. The successful candidate will be expected to have great networking skills and work on promoting the service and build relationships with a range of health and social care professionals. The role operates primarily across north Somerset and will be delivered in a variety of ways: face to face, by phone, letter or email.
The Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Support service involves dedicated members of staff giving one to one support, information and guidance to people with dementia or their carers and wider family or friends, to help people understand dementia, cope with day to day living with dementia and prepare for the future.
We are looking for an individual who possesses NVQ level 3 (or equivalent). Your ability to assess client needs along with the understanding of the needs for client confidentiality is essential. You will have excellent non-judgmental communication skills as well as great organisational and time management skills (as you will be home based) so that you can manage your workload effectively.
Good IT skills and experience working with databases are also essential.
You will be expected to work across the area so it is essential that you can travel independently.
