About the role

Have you got what it takes to build on our success so far in making dementia the issue of our time? Then we can promise you a stimulating and varied role in our busy media team, helping to deliver high impact campaigns for our Memory Walks, sports events and mass participation campaigns.

Alzheimer’s Society is looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual with a great news sense and proactivity, who can bring creativity to any story. The role will cover regional and national press, so experience in one or both areas is needed.

You will be fundamental in generating awareness and sign ups for our big fundraising events, from our Memory Walk and Cupcake Day to the London Marathon. The successful candidate will spot proactive opportunities on a daily basis to drive awareness and participation of our fundraising events by securing coverage. You will also have experience or knowledge of working with case studies and ideally high-profile celebrity Ambassadors and supporters.

You must have the ability to develop productive relationships with journalists across regional, national and consumer press and excellent written and verbal skills. You will also be willing and able to travel, occasionally, outside of working hours to event locations and be able to organise and co-ordinate media activity on-location, such as photographers, celebrities and media.

About you

You will possess a great news sense and ability to think creatively to get cut through in the media and will be able to jump on and maximise opportunities. You must have an interest in working with regional and national media and the desire to work in a fast-paced team committed to making a difference.
