Dementia devastates lives. By 2021, 1 million people will be living with the condition. But dementia won't win. Until the day we find a cure, Alzheimer's Society will be here for anyone affected by dementia - wherever they are, whatever they're going through. Everything we do is informed and inspired by them.

We are the UK's leading dementia charity. Every day, we work tirelessly to find new treatments and, ultimately, a cure for dementia. We provide expert information, training, and support services to all those who need our help. And we are creating a more dementia-friendly society so people with the condition can live without fear and prejudice.

About the role
Working within our team as a Dementia Support Worker you will have the rewarding opportunity to provide information and guidance to people with dementia and their carers; your role will help to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being, and put them in more control of their lives.

You will offer support and guidance in a variety of ways:  face to face, by phone, letter or email. A primary part of the role will be completing statutory Carers Assessments. You will assist peoples to access other services, providing signposting and referrals.

You will also facilitate support and activity groups on a regular basis.

About you
We are looking for an individual who possesses NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) with an understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers. Your ability to assess client needs along with the understanding of the need for client confidentially is essential.
To be successful in this role you will have excellent non-judgmental communication skills as well as strong organisational and time management skills.

This role involves regular use of IT packages, therefore a good standard of IT would be desirable.

Due to the nature of this role you will be required to travel independently across the whole of Northamptonshire.

Our employees work hard every day to make a true difference in people's lives. We are proud to support them with a range of benefits, recognition and many options for working agilely. All contributing to a strong work life balance. We also have various learning programmes to support you in your development and help you grow to realise your potential and shape a career with Alzheimer's Society.
