Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. We provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia.

About the role

This role is part of the Devon and Torbay Dementia Adviser service which receives referrals and general enquiries by phone, email and post.  The service is run by Dementia Connect Local Service Managers, Dementia Advisers, Dementia Support Workers and Peer Support Group Facilitators.  Together we provide expert education and support to anyone diagnosed with dementia or affected by dementia, in Devon and Torbay. 

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent communication and people skills to facilitate our information programmes in a safe and secure environment, offering appropriate support based on client need.

Peer Support Group Facilitators are community based, currently facilitating programmes virtually for the foreseeable future.

The purpose of the role is to help our service users to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being, and put them in more control of their lives.
You will be signposting to other appropriate services, so it is essential that any information provided is accurate, accessible and understood by the service user.

About you

The successful candidate will need to possess NVQ level 3, health and social care or equivalent, and have an understanding of dementia and the needs of those affected by dementia. You will also have good organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage several tasks at once and keep yourself motivated to perform to meet deadlines. You will be a committed team player, but also have the ability to work autonomously. To be successful in this role, you will have excellent communication skills and this role requires regular use of IT packages, therefore a good standard of IT is essential.
