Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. We provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia.

About the role

Do you want to be part of a team of people who are passionate to improve the life opportunities of people living with dementia?

Alzheimer’s Society advocacy service has a team of 10 advocates across Wales. Advocacy aims to empower and support people with dementia to express their views, wishes and concerns without making decisions on their behalf or in their 'best interests'. The service supports them in their choices and rights and provides information about and support to access services across all providers.

Alzheimer’s Society is looking for an Advocate to provide one-to-one support to people with dementia. You will be working to protect people’s rights and secure their entitlements as well as helping in times of transition or crisis. You will also aim to raise awareness of the advocacy service and of the needs of people with dementia through promotion and development of the service.

About you

It is important that you have a proven understanding of the principles of advocacy and the rights of people with dementia, along with an understanding of inclusion and the need to treat people from all backgrounds with dignity. Although a relevant qualification is desirable, it is not essential as the right personal attributes are more important.

Our employees work hard every day to make a true difference in people's lives. We are proud to support them with a range of benefits, recognition and many options for working agilely, all contributing to a strong work life balance. We also have various learning programmes to support you in your development and help you grow to realise your potential and shape a career with Alzheimer's Society.

You can also visit our Working for Us pages, which give you more information about what it’s like to be an employee at the Society.
